We are a social enterprise based in Huanchaco, Peru, that draws inspiration from the profound wisdom of the Quechua culture. Mundo Munay is home to two initiatives:

  • FairMail – a social enterprise producing stationery featuring photographs taken by young photographers from challenging backgrounds;
  • Munay – handcrafted home products made with care by local women artisans, crocheting each piece with skill and dedication.

Both projects aim at uplifting our local community by celebrating traditional Peruvian craftsmanship, fostering economic stability, and providing pathways for the personal and professional growth of the members of our community.

Early History

Mundo Munay stems from FairMail, a social enterprise that has been operating in Huanchaco since then. Over the years, FairMail has provided for the education of over 50 teenagers through the sale of greeting cards and has supported them in their personal and professional growth. 2023 marked a turning point in the history of FairMail as director Kira and Federica felt a deep call to expand the reach of the project and deepen the impact within the local community, hence the foundation of hence the foundation of Mundo Munay, a comprehensive community project that now embraces both Munay – a home decor brand of crochet creations – and FairMail.

Casi Casa, our eco-friendly headquarter

Casi Casa is home to Mundo Munay, located in the hillside neighborhood of El Tablazo in Huanchaco, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Built entirely from natural materials – wood, clay, and straw – it is the only structure of its kind in the area. The building was carefully hand-constructed by FairMail’s founders, Peter and Janneke, as part of their commitment to environmentally friendly practices.
Today, Casi Casa serves as the headquarters of Mundo Munay and provides space for both FairMail’s photography sessions and Munay’s crochet workshops. More than just a workspace, it has grown into a community hub – a welcoming place where people come together, learn, and feel supported.
